Lonna Bowstripe A Badger Warrior from the book Loamhedge by Brian Jaques

David loves the Redwall series of books, and when he decided on a Halloween costume for 2003, he
wanted to be the Badger Lonna Bowstripe. Luckily, Justen had moved back home with us, and had
some ideas and techniques that were lifesavers! He sculpted the nose, mouth, and claw pieces from
clay, then cast them in Plaster of Paris. Then, he filled the molds with glue from our hot glue gun. When
they were cooled, he painted them with acylics. I then made the fabric pieces for the shirt, cloak and
half-fur pants and tail. The upper part of the pants is black fabric. Justen made a wire framework for the
head, and we attatched the faux fur and sculpted pieces. Justen hot glued the claws onto old gloves,
and we covered the back of the gloves with more fur. The gloves were old leather, and this made the
paws look very realistic. The feet were over-the-shoe pieces of fur attached to the bottom of the pants
legs, with the claws glued on. Justen had made the leather gauntlets and quiver previously. The bow
was made with a piece of local wood.
